Why rocks and pebbles? Well, truth be told, they chose me. I was compelled to pick them up. And once in hand, my eyes were opened, and I saw what they were saying, "Jesus Christ is our Creator, our Savior, our Joy, and our Master." At His command, the mountains move, the sick are healed, and dead come to life. Why then would I be surprised that the rocks He made want to tell His story? I marvel at how all of nature glorifies God, and I yearn to do the same. When one bucket of rocks turned into the nativity story, I knew I had to find the Easter-week story, in rocks, out there in the woods. Each hike gifted me a few rocks which transformed into the scenes of the last week of Jesus's life on Earth. I am simply the hands that moved the rocks into place, but they are the ones that endured the shaping from years of trial and experience to be chosen and given a voice. We too will be chosen, called up, and blessed because of all our experiences, mistakes, and hardships, by the only One who can. He will heal us as we remain faithful to Him, trusting in His love for us and in His timing. What a beautifully created book! It really touched our hearts.
"He Is Risen" is a powerful book about the last week of Jesus Christ's mortal life. It shows scenes as diverse as the betrayal, the last supper, the atoning sacrifice in Gethsemane, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection—all of them using rocks that seem like they were designed for just the right eye to see how they should come together to tell the story of Jesus. Some pages, like the one of Christ in the tomb, are powerful in their minimalism. Others have intricacies in details—even the Savior's tears—that keep me coming back with awe at how the author put it all together. New Testament scriptures support each image of the unique rock art.While this book is written and designed at a level a child can understand, it carries great power for adults as well—about this most sacred event we celebrate at Easter. And yet, it's more than an Easter book. It's a good reminder of the central promise of Christianity year-round.Finally, for me, the most dominant theme is one of love—love of the Savior shown in so many ways, love we can show to him. Even the nail print in his hand is a heart-shaped rock of love. Highly recommended for all readers.
I love these books because of the simple and creative way they depict the Easter message. The rocks are arranged in such tender and precious ways to illustrate the message of that page. I intend to use this book to show to my kids and encourage us as we are out on walks and hikes to look at rocks differently. They can speak to us and perhaps we could take one of the scenes from the book and create it ourselves based on what rocks we can find. Also love the message that Patti shares on her videos. They are so heart felt and real. Thank you for sharing some touching stories and your beautiful art in rocks.

This is the second book by Patti Rokus. It is on crucifixion and resurrection of Our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.This book is so captivating and pierces my heart as I watch those events unfold through her art of using rocks.An amazing book!
This book is wonderful! How simple it seems to just use rocks to create a picture but Patti has done much more than that. Each rock seems perfect for it's place in the story and with her talent she has used them so creatively that it really is a textural evidence of how the Lord can testify in everything he created. We love how the greatest story is told using parts of His creation.
The organic connection between earth and heaven is beautifully celebrated in this stunning book. The spirit of Jesus seems to shine on and through the rocks that come alive to speak His story. A unique retelling of an old tale. The book made me smile.
It is so beautiful to see the amazing way that even rocks can help teach the story of the Savior. Great for people that do better with visuals! It is mesmerizing to watch the rocks move and become a totally different picture, telling another story of Christ.
