I see what the author tried to do, but she tried a little too hard. I like Dark romances. Honestly with few exceptions, I like a little of everything. One of the few exceptions would be demeaning acts involving urine or feces. Newsflash authors. Poop comes out of the butt. It is in no way, shape, or form attractive to have your “alpha male†H order a female to finish him by sucking him off when pulls out after “taking her as&.†Anal sex goes a lot farther up there than a quick toss of the salad so to speak. It was over for me at that point and I still can’t stop the nausea and grimacing. Maybe it’s part of my being a nurse, but all I can think of is E. coli... Who would find that sexy? Anal sex= good. Blow jobs =good. Anal Sex blow job = bad, got it?
Author B.B. Hamel is an amazing writer. Her easy-to-read prose is both emotionally descriptive and sensual. Readers get to see, hear, taste and touch when consuming one of her novels or novellas. “HIS TASTE†is a perfect example. While the blurb entices readers with rumors and a touch of Hamel’s sensual style, what it doesn’t present is the remarkable skill Hamel uses to develop characters so richly they belie the length of the manuscript and seem more real and deeper than any character in a novella has a right to be. Then we have to add the coup de gras to Hamel’s compelling prose and those memorable characters. It is, of course, B.B. Hamel’s ability to string readers along, offering just the right amount of information to keep them at the pinnacle of tension and glued to the plot until the last word is consumed! And, there were times when I had to remind myself of the promised HEA since “HIS TASTE†is a bit darker and deals with some of the real issues of Mental Health. I voluntarily read a copy of “HIS TASTE†and this is my honest, voluntary review. As a practice, I do not give more than 4 stars to a novella, but “HIS TASTE†is just too good to limit. So, that extra ½ star has to be added. I STRONGLY suggest that you purchase your copy of “HIS TASTE†today! Happy pages! 😉
I would describe this book as a dark, erotic, Thriller. Love the really hot sex, very well described, great dirty talk. I found I couldn't put the book down until each and every secret was revealed. The more I learned about the characters the more I wanted to know. I will definitely be rereading this one.
This was a quick raunchy read. The sex was quick and the character were serial killing psychos! There was not enough story to love or hate this one.
I absolutely loved reading my arc copy of His Taste by B.B. Hamel. Each book she writes just gets better and better with every book. The story was hot and steamy with phenomenal characters that will have you instantly in love with them. This is a definite must read.
There is definitely something about a small town with secrets, rumors and lies and the hero trying to save it! Case is that hero but will he have to give up his own happiness & his love for Eden in the process? This book delivers everything, SEX, love, lies, SEX, rumors, murders, cover ups and more sex! Some of the twists you see coming, but others have you on the edge of your seat. Definitely read this book, you won't be disappointed.
I do like dark romances but I wasn’t expecting something like this from this author. The scenes were steamy but kind of twisted. Very graphic and raw, but a bit too dirty for me. Some parts pushed my limits for the unsanitary/unhealthy things they did so instead of it being erotic, it was kind of gross and had the opposite effect.The author did a good job with the compelling theme and the craziness that fills the household that Eden is thrust into. The themes were very dark and I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about Eden and how she easily accepted everything when the final climax to the story occurred. She really wasn’t traumatized at all.I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Wow. This is a dark story with a twist of scary and those are my favorite. The details of the characters are written so well you can picture their crazed expressions. Jenna and Fox are crazy creepy. You can feel the turmoil rolling through Case and Eden may put up a brave front but she wants to see the good inside.Eden had dreams of leaving Pine Grove. She made it out for college but when her mom becomes ill, she goes back to take care of her. Problem is there aren’t many jobs in a small town so when she sees the ad for a housekeeper at the Hammetts End mansion, she pushes the years of rumors aside and applies. The rumors surely can’t be true. It has to be just the towns way of exiling the riches family around, right? She didn’t expect Case to be so handsome and she certainly didn’t expect to want him so badly. Will her new job make her life better or take it away?Case has been doing everything he can to keep the demons at bay. His dark side will scare her, and he wants her too bad to risk scaring her. Trying to keep the town of Pine Grove alive helps his guilt. Guilt he carries for his whole family. It’s just him and his sister Jessa now, we’ll them and the butler Fox. It’s up to him to keep everything going. But keeping things going may be risking the one thing he wants most.The book references Case having dark sexual tastes but never really gets into that side of him. There’s a brief glimpse but the story does not delve into it.
