The image of the book presented here and the actual item I received were different. I have Panzer Colors I and II, and I was all set to add this book to my collection. Howbeit, the green and black edition is what I got. Needless to say, I was, and still am, disappointed. Shopping at Amazon one never knows for certain what he/she may receive. This is just another lesson to be wary of purchasing anything through Amazon.
This book contains information on German Armor forces that were not part of the army (Heer). It covers SS units, Tiger Tank Battalions, Panzergrenadier Units and Sturmgeschutz formations. I purchased it for the Hermann Goering Unit markings table which is very useful in modeling and wargaming. It shows markings for units at Kursk and after, Western and Eastern fronts and has some very good b/w photographs. I am looking forward to purchasing the other two books in the series.

I purchased this book in used condition and was pleased to find it in very good condition. This finally completes my collection of three in this series after many years. I enjoy these books as a source of inspiration for painting model projects. It's too bad they are no longer published.
I was looking for a book that showed unit markings and a variety of camo....thisis the one to buy !

After many years of searching, I finally got all three of these books. Since they are all similar in format & layout, I'll summarize all three here. Colors 1 was published in 1976, Colors II in 1978 and the third in 1984. Each book can stand alone quite well & provide the reader with a ton of great B&W photos, 15 pages of color plates from the beginning of WW2 to the very end. Each book is paperback 95 pages, vs. the 48 pages of an "In Action" book.Panzer Color I provides a short review of the interiors, method of application, the use of foliage for all types of vehicles, wheeled and tracked from every theater in every season, urban and rural backgrounds.Panzer Color II covers the markings of the German army panzer division.Panzer Color III focus is on the non Army units such as SS, Panzer grenadier divisions, Sturmgeschutz units.Some of the photos have been released in other Squadron books, if you have any of the "In Action" books, you'll recognize a few of the pictures, but the emphasis on these captions are the markings, camouflage, tactical signs & colors rather than the weapons. Highly recommended.
