Love the quick, punchy humor of Alun Hill. This is a helpful book (in pointing out the tourist-trappiness of Paris), and Alun's viewpoint is very Seinfeld-esque in the way he describes Paris from a "What is up with THAT?" type of view. Fast read and I got some real good chuckles.
I think the author did try to talk about some things to be avoided in Paris as well as things to be concerned about. I do truly believe he did as little research as possible (Viator anyone?) as the 'book' comes across as extremely skimpy and not terribly funny. Mr. Hill does try, but I am afraid his jokes don't quite get up his name so to speak. I would hope he will put more content in the Kindle and paperback versions, as currently, it's not even worth purchasing at one penny at the moment.
I did enjoy going through these "chapters". It will be interesting to see if I agree with some of the author's assessments after our trip to Paris!
Why would the author waste our time on such drivel? He was lucky to see Paris. He wasted money on tourist traps. This is not funny, not interesting, not necessarily true. He hates Monet. This "e-book" is the reason why the Kindle bubble has burst-- when people self-publish pure bs to try to make a buck.
This entire book can be summed up in one sentence: Everything in Paris stinks--literally. The author's hypersensitive nose was the only sense organ working on his or her trip to Paris. S/he hated everything and resented having to pay for it. Short and extremely unhelpful, this book will make anyone who has not been to Paris wonder why anyone would ever go there. I urge you to consider why Paris would be for centuries the world's biggest tourist destination if it were really the place described in this book.
Waste of time. Waste of portable device battery. Waste of brain energy on such utterly mind numbing idiocy. Waste of everything.
